WEEK 3

In this week our teacher gave us some web pages related with plagiarism. First, we read this information to understand more about this process. Then, we work in pairs into the platform and answered some questions that we wrote in the forum. After, I learned that plagiarism is an act of fraud. It involves both stealing someone else's work and lying about it afterward. Also,I discovered that we can do plagiarism in different forms. For example, when we turn in someone else's work as your own, when we copy words or ideas from someone else without giving credit, when we fail to put a quotation in quotation marks, when we give incorrect information about the source of a quotation, when we change words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving credit, or copying so many words or ideas from a source that it makes up the majority of your work, whether you give credit or not. Moreover, I read about citing. Itis to cite the authors name and the sources you have taken the information when you write an essay. By citing you show your credibility as a writer. You also provide an opportunity to share information with others. Finally, we exposed about APA Style. It refers to the rules and conventions established by the American Psychological Association for documenting sources used in a research paper. This document has a reference list that provides the information necessary to identify and retrieve each source. In conclusion, I think that I will be able to apply this new knowledge in my future researches. Also, I won’t forget that the expression of original ideas is considered intellectual property and I must avoid doing plagiarism.

WEEK 2

During this week I learned how work in in the UTA page. The teacher gave us our usernames and the passwords to access into the Internet and Multimedia Resources page. After, we changed our passwords for more security. Then we added more information and our photographs in the profiles. Also, we upload the first group workrelated about the URL, internet pages, reliable information, and so on. After that, the teacher taught us how we should manage the blogs and how share the information with the other users (classmates). Moreover, we developed an individual work and we published our respective paragraphs in the forum. Later, we gave an opinion based in our classmate’s comments.

On the other hand, I found an article that our teacher published in the Discussion Forum Rubric (http://www.cal.org/resources/Digest/0105oxford.html). When I read about Integrated Skills in the ESL/EFL Classroom I noticed something important. It said that some teachers prefer to develop one or two skills with the absence of all the others. I think that they should unite all of them to ensure an adequate learning in the students. In this form, the learners can get a better communication inside the environment that surrounds them. Also, students can interact with security and acquire self-confidence. When the teacher teaches in a wrong way, the student almost always uses literal translation from one language to another, especially when they are learning new grammar. To avoid this confusion in the students, the teacher must associate English's four important bases (reading, speaking, writing, and listening). With the integration of these skills, the teacher is promoting a free communication and preparing to his/her students to use the language in everyday life. Finally, I believe that all of this information will be applied when I realize my pre-professional practices in the next level of my English program.

WEEK 1

This week I received a new subject named Internet and Multimedia Resources.
I think this subject will help me to learn and understand the technology in a better way.
In my first class, the teacher explained us how we will work during this semester.
Also, she showed us our site of work into the “aulasvirtuales” from the UTA page.
Then, we created our new mails in Gmail and the blogs to publish the learning reflective journals every week. In the second class, our teacher sent us an e-mail with an interesting file about the URL, internet pages, and reliable information, and so on to work in pairs. After, we downloaded a document of Microsoft Word that contained two charts. Then, we filled the document with our own answers, but related with the information from the file.
In conclusion, during these days I learned how to manage the true information of a web page. Also, I think that I can apply this new knowledge in my future investigations or homework.Obviously, I will be more cautious in my research and I will try to find more reliable information.
